Argument led to deadly shooting in West Columbia, police say

A man was shot and killed after an argument turned violent Friday morning in West Columbia.

Edward Walker, 38, was killed by a gunshot to the abdomen shortly before 9 a.m. Friday, according to Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher.

The shooting happened at an apartment complex at 1426 Platt Springs Road, West Columbia police say.

Police say it the shooting was preceded by an argument between Walker and 21-year-old Levette Omega Gladden.

Gladden is in custody at the Lexington County Detention Center. No charges had been filed as of early Saturday morning.
