Lexington deputies charge 2 following fatal shooting outside night club near Batesburg-Leesville
Lexington County deputies have arrested two men accused of fatally shooting a 34-year-old Aiken man and shooting a 30-year-old Aiken man during a dispute at a night club near Batesburg-Leesville.
The shooting happened around 3:14 a.m. Saturday, Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said.
Donavon Tirell Brannon, 26, of Batesburg-Leesville, and Shantrez Alejandro Robertson, 20, of Winnsboro, have both been charged with murder, attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, Koon said. Brannon was arrested Saturday, and Robertson was arrested Tuesday.
Brannon and Robertson are accused of firing shots at William Tyrone Gantt, 34, of Aiken, during a dispute outside The Spot night club at 1150 Parrish Road, Koon said. Gantt was shot several times in his lower and upper torso.
Gantt died from blood loss, which occurred when a bullet perforated his lungs, according to Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher. Gantt’s death has been ruled a homicide.
Brannon and Robertson are also accused of firing gunshots at a group of people standing outside the night club, Koon said. Brandon Jeffrey, 30, of Aiken, was shot in the leg and is expected to recover.
“The nature and circumstances of the dispute that involved Brannon, Robertson, Gantt and other persons who were outside the Parrish Road night club remain under investigation,” Koon said.
