Columbia police investigating 2 bodies found Sunday

Columbia police are investigating after two bodies were found Sunday on Millwood Avenue.

The bodies were found late Sunday morning roughly a block from one another on a commercial stretch of Millwood Avenue between Gervais and King streets.

It’s not immediately clear if the deaths are related, but Columbia police spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons said foul play is not suspected in either case.

About 11:20 a.m., police responded to 2480 Millwood Ave., a shopping plaza with a laundromat and liquor store, where a man was found unresponsive outside the location, she said.

Ten minutes later, police found another man unresponsive just down the road at 2559 Millwood Ave., inside a shopping complex that houses a convenience store and laundromat, Timmons said.

Autopsies for both men were scheduled for Monday morning, a spokesman for the Richland County coroner’s office said.
