The Columbia Police Department is investigating a suspicious shooting death after a man was found dead inside a vehicle early Sunday morning.
Levi Michael Happy, 22, was found inside a vehicle at 1001 Harden Street, in the parking lot of the Food Lion shopping center in Five Points, shortly before 1:30 this morning, said Columbia police liaison Jennifer Timmons, adding Happy was unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene.
Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said the cause of death is a gunshot wound to the lower abdomen. Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook said CPD is investigating the death of the Prosperity resident as suspicious.
Investigators are work to determine the circumstances surrounding Happy’s death, talking with his acquaintances and reviewing surveillance video, said Timmons, adding anyone with information is asked to call the Columbia Police Department or Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
