Columbia Police are looking for the driver of a green 1990’s model Ford Explorer involved in a hit-and-run Tuesday night on Truman Street, that resulted in the victim losing a leg.

A witness told investigators that it looked like the green SUV veered into the path of a motorcyclist who was traveling in the opposite direction on the 3000 block of Truman Street, police chief skip Holbrook said in a news release.

The motorcycle and driver were pushed into a brick wall and wrought iron fence. After the collision, the SUV left the scene.

The injury to the motorcyclist required the medical amputation of a leg, Holbrook said.

Columbia police continue to investigate.
