Suspect shot by Forest Acres police charged and released on bond
The Forest Acres Police Department officially filed charges against a suspect shot by an officer on May 19.
Antwon Gallmon, 17, was released from Richland Memorial Hospital Saturday and transported to the Alvin Glenn Detention Center, according to Forest Acres police, adding Gallmon was charged with the following:
▪ Failure to Stop for Blue Lights
▪ Possession of Stolen Vehicle
▪ Unlawful Possession of Pistol (2 counts)
▪ Simple Possession of Marijuana
▪ Unlawful Possession of Schedule 1 drug
▪ Driving without a License
Gallmon was released from the jail Sunday after getting a $10,000 Bond.
Gallmon was taken into custody early Thursday following a two-mile chase, the report said. Two pistols also were found inside the car, which was reported stolen, the report said.
The report doesn’t supply the complete name of the officer nor does it make clear whether Gallmon was shot as he drove toward or away from the officer. State Law Enforcement Division agents are investigating the shooting at the request of the police department. SLED has the police car’s video of the incident. Police Chief Gene Sealy said the officer is on leave.
The shooting happened in a parking lot at about 1:30 a.m. Thursday not far from Forest Drive and Richland Mall as police investigated homeowner complaints about loud music.
