Armed robber in ‘Scream’ mask drops loot after 80-year-old shoots gun
An armed robber wearing a Halloween costume showed up at a laundromat, but police said he wasn’t there to go trick-or-treating or do laundry.
Camden police responded to 824 Chestnut Road around 2:55 p.m. Wednesday after reports came in of an armed robbery in progress, according to the incident report.
When police arrived, Abraham Brown, 80, reported he was sitting inside the business when a suspect wearing a Halloween costume came in and demanded a box.
The victim described the suspect as about 6 feet tall wearing all black and mask similar the one in the horror movie “Scream.”
He said the suspect was also wearing gloves and holding a black handgun during the robbery.
Brown reported to police he told the suspect to take the box, which the suspect did before running out of the business.
Brown then said he followed the suspect outside and fire shot from his .25-caliber pistol in the air.
The suspect then reportedly dropped the box and ran about 100 yards into a vehicle. The vehicle was described as a pea green Toyota or Nissan.
The report stated the victim was able to retrieve what was stolen.
No arrests have been made and the case is still under investigation.
