Man charged following bomb threat at Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center
Columbia police charged Michael Shadow, 39, with making a bomb threat after he allegedly walked into the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center around 10 a.m. , issued the threat and walked out.
Columbia police evacuated the facility at 1101 Lincoln St. and closed nearby streets to traffic for more than an hour. A search of convention center by the police department bomb squad, assisted by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department and SLED, turned up “no hazardous material” and the all clear was sounded.
Shadow was later located in the Vista area, police spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons said.
A motive for the threat or Shadow’s connection to the convention center was not indicated in the police department tweets about the incident.
