Debate over A-10 Warthog’s future doomed Myrtle Beach Air Force Base

The Myrtle Beach Air Force Base, which closed in March 1993 as part of widespread military cutbacks after the Cold War, might still be open today had it not been for a long-running debate at the Pentagon over whether the A-10 Warthog jet should have been retired in favor of other aircraft.
