May proclaimed ‘Month of the Military Spouse’

COLUMBIA, SC South Carolina governor Nikki Haley, a military spouse herself, proclaimed May Month of the Military Spouse.

First Gentleman, Capt. Michael Haley, was deployed to Afghanistan for much of 2013 with 46 members of the South Carolina National Guard's Agribusiness Development Team (ADT) 3-49.

The proclamation acknowledges the sacrifices military spouses make for their nation and communities and urged South Carolinians to remember the debt of gratitude they are owed.

Receptions from 5:30p to 7:30 pm for military families were being held Friday night around the state at the following locations.

Anderson: 263d AAMDC Headquarters, 263 Air Defender Way, Anderson, SC 29631.

Charleston: Charleston Readiness Center, 68 Hagood Avenue, Charleston, SC 29403.

Columbia: South Carolina Military Museum, 1 National Guard Road, Columbia, SC 29201. Museum is located behind Bluff Road Armory.

Rock Hill: National Guard Armory, 126 Museum Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732

Spartanburg: Upstate Readiness Center (USC Upstate), 301 North Campus Boulevard, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
