Nikki Haley tweets about SC flooding in response to Hurricane Harvey
Houston residents dealing with flooding in the wake of Hurricane Harvey got some sympathy Monday from the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.
Nikki Haley tweeted that her “heart goes out” to Texas flooding victims having dealt with similar flooding during her time as governor of South Carolina.
“Having gone through a ‘1000 Year Flood’ event, my heart goes out to the people in Texas,” Haley said. “Once again we are witnessing the goodness of people.”

Haley had to deal with storm-related flooding not once but twice during her time as governor, before President Donald Trump nominated her to the U.N. post in January.
In 2015, historic storm-related flooding burst through dams near Columbia, damaging hundreds of homes and businesses and disrupting the lives of thousands.
A year later, S.C. communities were hit again when Hurricane Matthew led thousands to flee inland. Some 150 people needed to be rescued after flooding in the town of Nichols.
Flooding in the Houston area has made many streets impassable and turned thousands of people out of their homes.
