Gov. Nikki Haley undergoes outpatient procedure

Gov. Nikki Haley underwent an outpatient procedure at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday where she was unconscious for about eight minutes, her office said.

She informed Lt. Gov. Henry McMaster of the procedure Wednesday morning. There was no transfer of power, the governor’s office said.

Haley, a Lexington Republican, underwent an upper endoscopy, which examines the digestive tract. Her office said the procedure was routine.

She will return to her office on Thursday morning.
