Report: Lindsey Graham allies form super PAC to back presidential bid

AP

Allies of U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham have formed a super PAC to raise unlimited cash to back his presidential campaign, which he will officially announce next week, the National Journal reported.

The super PAC is called Security Is Strength, almost the same name as Security through Strength, the name of Graham’s testing-the-waters committee.

National Journal reported that Andrew King, a former deputy chief of staff of the senator, and Caroline Wren, who served as finance director for Graham’s 2014 reelection campaign, are running the PAC.

Hilton Head attorney and Graham donor William Bethea filed paperwork creating the PAC in March, Federal Election Commission records show.

Graham will launch his 2016 presidential campaign on Monday in Central, the town where he grew up, before touring New Hampshire and Iowa.

Graham to tour Iowa, New Hampshire post bid announcement

In New Hampshire on Tuesday, Graham will attend a drop-in at Mary Ann’s Diner in Derry and a house party hosted by Beverly Bruce in Tuftonboro. Bruce was finance chairwoman for Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign in New Hampshire.

On Wednesday, in New Hampshire, Graham will attend a drop-in at Roundabout Diner in Portsmouth before heading to Manchester to participate in the Americans for Peace, Prosperity and National Security forum.

On Friday, Graham heads to Iowa for a Des Moines town hall meeting and a meet and greet at a VFW in Waterloo.

On Saturday, Graham is scheduled to speak at the 94th Annual VFW State Convention in Bettendorf, Iowa.

Later Saturday, Graham will attend “Joni Ernst’s Roast and Ride,” an event at the Central Iowa Expo in Boone hosted by Ernst, a Republican U.S. senator from that state.
