Sanders speaking to Democratic women group in SC

Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders will deliver the keynote address at the Southern Regional Meeting of the National Federation of Democratic Women on Saturday in Rock Hill.

Sanders, an Independent senator from Vermont, will speak at 9:30 a.m. in Whitton Auditorium on the Winthrop University campus.

State Rep. Gilda Cobb Hunter, a Orangeburg Democrat who is the Democratic National Committee’s Southern Region chair, also will speak.

Tickets to hear Sanders cost $25. Tickets to the event cost $50.

On Friday, Clinton, Sanders and former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley will take part in a first-in-the-South forum at Winthrop University. The event broadcasts at 8 p.m. on MSNBC.

Sanders trails Hillary Clinton in Democratic presidential polls in South Carolina by more than 30 percentage points.
