Woman accidentally runs over 81-year-old husband, coroner says

Authorities are investigating an incident in which a woman is accused of mistakenly running her husband over.

Lorne L. Vincent, 81, died at the hospital of “multiple body trauma,” after being struck by the car on Thursday, according to a news release by the Aiken County Coroner’s Office.

The incident happened shortly after 1 p.m., Thursday in the parking lot of Satcher Ford on Jefferson Davis Highway in Graniteville, the release stated.

Vincent and his wife, Caroleen Vincent, had driven to Satcher Ford to have their vehicles serviced. As Lorne Vincent walked in front of Caroleen Vincent’s vehicle to go into the service department, “she accidentally stepped on the accumulator instead of the brake, running over” her husband, according to the release. Caroleen Vincent was not injured.

No additional information was made available.
