York Sheriff: Accused thief nabbed 6 cases of beer while delivery driver sat in truck +VIDEO
Stacks of beer waiting for delivery outside a gas station in Clover this month gave an accused thief the opportunity to steal six Bud Light suitcases, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office.
In the sheriff’s office’s latest “Wanted Wednesday” case, authorities this week released surveillance video footage from the Murphy’s Gas Station on S.C. 274 in Lake Wylie showing an unidentified man carrying more than 100 pounds of beer back to a waiting car.
Deputies gave the following description of the suspect: a white male, age 25 to 27, with brown hair, blue eyes, wearing a khaki Carhartt-brand jacket. He’s accused of stealing the 24-packs of Bud Light while the delivery driver sat in his truck nearby.
The beer cases were staged near the store entry. Deputies say the stolen beer is valued at $107.
Authorities describe the suspect vehicle as a black Ford Explorer or Expedition, which is seen on the video waiting nearby at a gas station pump, then leaving the store. No vehicle license plate number is seen in the video, as deputies say the man evidently covered the plate with a paper towel before the alleged theft.
York County Crime Stoppers is asking for anyone with information to call 1-877-409-4321 or the York County Sheriff’s Office at 803-628-3059 and ask for Sgt. Gregory.
