Letters: Trump is attacking Boeing? Really?
It is astounding for Donald Trump to attack Boeing, which employs 151,641 U.S. workers and has most of its plants on U.S. soil, paying good salaries to Americans. It builds high-quality, highly advanced machines and is unparalleled in employee career development and benefits.
Boeing fosters employee loyalty and pride. It supports and creates opportunity for huge numbers of American contractors and small businesses, which exist because of Boeing. Its focus on science and new technology provides the incentive and spark for America’s next generation.
Let’s compare Boeing to Mr. Trump’s companies: resort, gambling and retail businesses, catering to “luxury” and “leisure” activities, employing lower wage, minimally or unskilled or part-time workers and providing as few benefits to the workers as possible.
Boeing is 100 times more important to America’s economy, security, employment stability, health and global status than anything Mr. Trump ever produced. Maybe if Boeing starts producing planes where Mr. Trump’s products are made, and starts treating its employees like Mr. Trump treats his employees, it will be able to charge a lot less for its planes, as Mr. Trump demands.
