Cutdown day nears for coveted defender KJ Henry
Class of 2018 defensive end K.J. Henry of Clemmons, N.C., is ready to cut his list of 10 schools down to five.
Coach Adrian Snow said Friday afternoon he expects Henry to release his new short list the first of next week, either Monday or Tuesday. Henry has been working with a top 10 of South Carolina, Clemson, Penn State, Georgia, Ohio State, Pitt, Alabama, Louisville, Virginia Tech and Charlotte.
“South Carolina and Clemson, I think they’ll be all right,” Snow said. “He likes both of them, but liking and loving are two different things. Those five will be his five official visits. His big thing is consistency, how he’s treated consistently. He just wants it to be consistent.”
Henry is continuing his recruiting process step by step, having gone from a national list of offers down to 10 and soon to five. Snow even believes in Henry’s mind his list is even smaller than five.
“In my mind he’s got it narrowed down a little bit, more than five,” Snow said. “The five he’s got are great coaches and programs and they’ve done a great job recruiting him. He is closer than five, maybe.”
Henry attended a USC camp in June along with his 2019 teammate DB Jaquan McMillian, who has a USC offer. He also visited Ohio State, Alabama and Georgia this summer. Snow said he talked earlier this week with USC coach Will Muschamp, and he’s also been in touch with Clemson defensive line coach Todd Bates.
