It’s only fitting former South Carolina offensive line coach Shawn Elliott’s first hire at Georgia State would have Gamecocks ties.

FootballScoop and 247Sports reported current Gamecocks strength assistant Cedric Williams will join Elliott in Atlanta as offensive line coach. Williams started for the Gamecocks from 1999-2002 and was a first-team All-SEC pick in 2000.

A 2003 USC graduate, Williams was an offensive line grad assistant from 2006-8. He spent one season at Mississippi Valley State, then five coaching the line at Newberry College. In five seasons, he had five different players earn all-conference recognition and was named assistant head coach before the 2013 season.

On Twitter, Williams has already started following Georgia State commits.
