SEC Network analyst predicts good things for Gamecocks pass rusher
D.J. Wonnum impressed his coaches the first week of August practice last season, earning mention in the early going before a true freshman season with a solid role in South Carolina’s defensive line rotation.
Now an SEC Network analyst is projecting bigger things in 2017.
Cole Cubelic, a former Auburn center and game-film enthusiast, frequently posts clips of strong line-play on Twitter. This weekend he included a play where Wonnum keeps a Missouri offensive tackle at arm’s length, slips past a running back’s block and combines with Jonathan Walton to sack the quarterback.
And Cubelic had something nice to say about the young Gamecock.

Wonnum made 32 tackles, 3 1/2 for loss, and 1 1/2 sacks in 2016, with two hurries and a pair of fumbles forced. He projects as a starting Buck this coming season.
