Williams-Brice signage replaced after wind damage

Williams-Brice Stadium is looking like its usual self again.

The signage above the South Carolina football stadium’s press box has been repaired after October damage from the effects of Hurricane Matthew. The storm blew away three letters from the word GAMECOCKS. Missing were the G, O and first C.

It was the only known damage to the stadium ahead of the Gamecocks’ rare Sunday game against Georgia, a contest moved one day due to the projected impact of Hurricane Matthew on the state.

The Block C Gamecocks sign that faces Bluff Road was damaged by wind from a storm in August 2016 was fixed in time for South Carolina’s first home game of the season.

This season, the Gamecocks play two games away from Williams-Brice before the 7:30 p.m. Sept. 16 home opener against Kentucky.
