South Carolina’s Chris Lammons on Georgia: ‘They can't pass’
It’s hard to argue it rose to the level of true trash talk.
But South Carolina defensive back Chris Lammons fired a little shot at Georgia.
He was asked a question whose answer was pretty easy: which phase of the Bulldogs offense is more concerning, run or pass?
“The run,” Lammons said. “They can’t pass.”
As of yet, the Bulldogs really don’t pass. With a ground game that is rolling up 284 yards a game at six yards a carry, they don’t really have to. Georgia averages 162.6 on 17.5 attempts and is the most run-heavy team in the country that doesn’t run some variation of the option.
The fact that Georgia has blown out so many teams is a factor, and that passing game has been efficient, as starter Jake Fromm has a rating of 171.9 and averages 10.5 yards on his rare attempts.
The Gamecocks are just above the middle of the pack in yards per attempt allowed. Opponents are throwing for 244.9 yards a game on USC, but that’s on 35.9 attempts, 112th in the country.
