DWI charge against Victor Hampton dropped
Former South Carolina cornerback Victor Hampton received good news Monday.
A DWI charge related to an arrest made in late February was dropped.
“I won my DWI case today GOD IS GOOD INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY!! I’ve learned a lot from this situation and it has made me a better person,” Hampton said via Twitter. “It’s all dismissed due to lack of probable cause to arrest me in the FIRST place.”
Hampton was arrested Feb. 28 in Charlotte, N.C., on charges of driving while intoxicated, speeding, reckless driving and having an open container. The Baltimore Ravens cut him two days later.
Hampton will still have to appear in court because of the speeding charge, according to WIS-TV.
Hampton declared for the NFL after his junior season at USC and went undrafted. He was on the New York Giants’ practice squad since mid-October but did not play in a game.
