Columnist: South Carolina can win the wide-open SEC East

Kevin Scarbinsky, AL.com sports columnist: Between now and the season-opener against North Carolina on Sept. 3, we will ask 50 people: “What do you think about the Gamecocks in 2015?” Our second panelist is Kevin Scarbinsky, AL.com sports columnist in Birmingham.

“I think Steve Spurrier is always dangerous when people count him out. Obviously, he hasn’t picked a quarterback yet, so you have questions there. They lost so many close games last year. They played Auburn off their feet – at a point when Auburn was still playing well. I wouldn’t count him out. I think the East is wide open, and I would not be surprised, I’m not predicting it, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Gamecocks in Atlanta.”
