South Carolina freshman defensive end Shameik Blackshear, a 4-star recruit from Bluffton, registered his apparent regret at choosing the Gamecocks over other schools in a tweet on Saturday night.

“Should of looked around like my parents said,” Blackshear tweeted. He added in a another tweet that everyone should listen to their parents because "they know best."

After USC's loss to LSU, co-defensive coordinator Lorenzo Ward told reporters that Blackshear would likely be redshirted this season.

Blackshear did not make the trip to LSU. He had played in USC's games against UCF and Missouri.

"I think Shameik is going to redshirt now," Ward said. "We try to give everybody the opportunity to play. He had his opportunity. Obviously we felt as a staff that he wasn't ready to play."
