Williams-Brice Stadium field getting makeover
The Williams-Brice Stadium playing surface looks very brown right now, but don’t worry: the grass will be back.
The Gamecocks’ football home playing surface is undergoing a $995,000 makeover that will include installation of a new drainage system, irrigation and sod.
The previous grass has been removed and crews Wednesday were busy moving dirt. The spring game was played there Saturday. South Carolina’s first home game is Sept. 17 against East Carolina.
The work will be finished in July in time for the Gamecocks’ preseason practices that begin in August. South Carolina’s first home game is Sept. 17 against East Carolina.
