Muschamp: ‘It’s hard when you have to challenge someone every single day’

Junior David Williams was listed as South Carolina’s No. 1 tailback entering fall practice, but his hold on the job feels far from firm after two days of practice.

“The guy’s got some ability, but you know… it’s hard when you have to challenge somebody every single day of practice and every single meeting. It gets tiring for coaches,” Gamecocks head coach Will Muschamp said after Wednesday’s practice. “I asked him the other day, ‘What have you accomplished since you’ve been here?’”

And what did he say?

“I didn’t get a response,” Muschamp replied. “Next question.”

A.J. Turner, Rod Talley and Darius Paulk also are getting practice snaps at first-team tailback, offensive coordinator Kurt Roper said.
