South Carolina football coach Will Muschamp already has one Bentley in his program, that being his running backs coach Bobby Bentley. He’d like to add a second.

Bentley’s highly regarded son in the 2017 class, quarterback Jake Bentley of Opelika, Ala., received an offer from Muschamp on Friday night. It’s a move that no doubt will shake up his recruiting moving forward.

“It feels great,” Bentley said of his newest offer. “Coach Muschamp told me that he was going to personally recruit me hard and never use my dad to try to persuade me. That made me feel great because it shows he wants me for me. I’m very excited about it and excited to see how it goes moving forward.”

Bentley’s other offers include Stanford, Auburn, Duke, Miami, Georgia and Wake Forest. Stanford has been the front-runner for a little while, and that hasn’t changed.

“Stanford is still the favorite but I am very excited to see how Coach Muschamp develops the USC program,” Bentley said. “USC is for sure one of the schools at the top of the list.”

Before he makes his college decision, Bentley and his family have to decided about where they will live moving forward and where he will play his senior season of high school football. He said they are considering options for him in South Carolina as well as him playing his senior year in Alabama.

This past season Bentley passed for 2,834 yards and 28 touchdowns.
