Tight end prospect deciding between USC and USC
Tight end Evan Hinson of Deltona, Fla., is deciding this week between South Carolina and Southern Cal.
Hinson (6-5, 210) visited South Carolina the weekend of Jan. 15. He saw the Trojans last weekend.
Hinson said there’s no favorite as of Tuesday.
Gamecocks head coach Will Muschamp is set to have his in-home visit on Wednesday, and then Hinson will think about which place best meets what he’s looking for.
“My relationship with the coaches and where I’m comfortable at school,” Hinson said. “I liked both visits, not one more than the other.”
Hinson said both are recruiting him as a tight end. And he said there’s one more key element to his decision.
“Yes, distance is a factor,” he said.
Hinson also is a good basketball player, but his focus is on football for college.
Simpson not planning to visit USC
Offensive lineman John Simpson of Fort Dorchester told 247Sports on Tuesday night that Clemson and Florida are tied at the top of his list and he is not planning to visit South Carolina this weekend.
USC plans to have most of, if not all, its coaching staff at Simpson’s wrestling match Wednesday in an effort to convince him to take an official visit this weekend. Simpson visited Florida and Clemson the last two weekends. He will announce a decision on signing day.
