Harbison Theatre’s executive director to resign

Katie Fox, executive director of Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College, is leaving the theater for a position with Columbia-based project management firm Sagacious Partners.

Fox will resign in early July and will immediately start as a senior strategic project manager at Sagacious Partners, she said.

In her six years at Harbison Theatre, Fox has bolstered seasons by increasing and diversifying show offerings, from pops music concerts to National Theater Live screenings to contemporary dance troupes.

“This has been an incredible professional and personal experience. It’s been very joyful to meet so many new, interesting, compassionate neighbors that I didn’t know before I took this job” at Harbison Theatre, Fox said. “I’m really confident in the staff here and that the success will continue for many years, whether I’m sitting in this office or sitting in the audience.”

The theater hopes to have a new director in place before the 2017-18 season begins at the end of September, she said.

“Jobs like this one are really dream jobs. It’s exciting and heartening to me that by stepping away from this position I’m giving someone else a new opportunity to realize their dream.”
