Brunch is a big thing in Columbia but most restaurants don’t take reservations. Look for the sweet spot of opening times and about an hour before closing for your chance at getting a table without too much of a wait.

Some of the more popular (but definitely not all) Sunday brunch spots are:

Cafe Strudel, 300 State Street, West Columbia, www.cafestrudel.com,10 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Hangover Hashbrowns are a favorite here.

*116 State, 116 State Street, West Columbia, 116state.com, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. (last seating at 2:30 p.m.)

Check out the Bloody Mary menu and personal pizzas

*DiPrato’s, 342 Pickens Street, www.dipratos.com, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

The Eggs Benedict and homemade corned beef hash with eggs are quite tasty.

Bourbon, 1214 Main Street, www.bourboncolumbia.com, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

Famished? Try the Biscuit of Champions (Ms Blythe’s biscuit, housemade andouille sausage, crispy chicken thigh, bourbon smoked bacon and andouille sausage gravy).

The Oak Table, 1221 Main St., www.theoaktablesc.com, 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m

Where to start? Lemon ricotta fritters? the addictive truffle frites? or confit lamb shoulder omelette?

Motor Supply Co. Bistro, 920 Gervais St., www.motorsupplycobistro.com, 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

The menu changes daily and is posted online 30 minutes before the restaurant opens.

Liberty on the Lake, 1601 Marina Road, Lexington, www.libertytaproom.com. 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

The menu features a Rise and Shine pizza with eggs, ham, applewood smoked bacon, peppers and mixed cheeses.

Moe’s Grapevine, 4478 Rosewood Drive, (803) 776-8463; 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Easter Sunday

Celebrate Easter Italian style.

Notable in the chains: Longhorn Steakhouse will be featuring a special Chef’s Showcase menu for Easter that includes Grilled Lamb Chops marinated in a mint infused bordelaise and served atop horseradish whipped mashed potatoes and wilted spinach.

Ruth’s Chris (924-A Senate St., at the Hilton Hotel, www.ruthchris.com) is now taking reservations for Easter
