Cemetery Tours

160 years of history will come to life during this tour. Bring flashlights and travel throughout one of Columbia’s oldest cemeteries. Two tour options are available.

P.O.V. Film Series: “I Am Cuba”

Tyler Perry’s “Madea on the Run”

In trouble again, Madea is on the run from the law. Madea’s life lessons on friendship, marriage, personal reflection will leave audiences with some great impressions.

“Becoming Harriet Tubman”

The play portrays five real-life characters telling the story of how a little girl becomes a historical icon. The one-woman show takes the audience on a journey from slave-life to Union spy and everywhere in between.

Boykin Spaniel National Field Championship

More than 200 Boykin spaniels from all over the country will participate in this weekend-long event which features novice, puppy, intermediate and open classes. There will also be food trucks, silent auction, oyster roast and raffles.

Columbia Open Studios

The fifth anniversary of Columbia Open Studios includes a free, self-led driving tour of artists’ working studios spanning the City of Columbia and Richland and Lexington Counties, showcasing the Midlands’ art community. This is a weekend long event.

USC Spring Game

The Gamecocks put their spring practice efforts on show in the annual Garnet and Black spring game.

Ragin’ Cajun: John Morgan

Early Columbia Lecture Series

“The Capital City Rebuilds,” covers Columbia from 1865 to 1914. This series is led by Dr. Warner Montgomery, author of “Columbia Revisited.”

Engenuity SC Science Cafe

This cafe style discussion features Dr. Jeff Twiss’ presentation on “How Can We Fix the Injured Nervous System?” He will discuss the question and his extensive research in nervous system repair.

Indie Grits Festival

The first day of the week-long festival includes films, film discussions and an opening night party. Indie Grits has become the East coast’s premier film festival and rivals The Sundance Film Festival. A full schedule of events can be found online.

Walk a Mile in Their Shoes

People across the Midlands will be standing up against sexual assault and abuse by walking a mile their shoes (heels). Former USC quarterback Connor Shaw is the grand marshal.
