5 things about Widespread Panic’s concert
Jam band extraordinaire Widespread Panic comes to The Township for two nights, April 14 and 15, in its spring tour. Here are five things you can expect:
1. April 14 is John Bells’ birthday. He’ll be 53. Who’s bringing a cake?
2. Possible cover songs the band will play: The Guess Who classic “No Sugar Tonight/Mother Nature” and Joe Cocker’s “High Time We Went,” a nod to the late singer’s legacy; Robert Johnson’s “Stop Breakin’ Down Blues” or “
3. Will there be a celebrity guest? Chris Robinson, whose band headlined St. Pat’s in Five Points, was on stage with Widespread along with the comic Carrot Top, in Las Vegas last month.
4. There’s a new song being debuted on the tour, “Street Dogs For Breakfast.” Another, “The Poorhouse Of Positive Thinking,” is a JoJo Herman penned tune that was debuted on a solo tour.
5. Will the band preview songs to be played at the Dear Jerry event on May 14 in Columbia, Maryland? Widespread is part of an all-star lineup of musicians paying homage to the late great Grateful Dead singer. Also in the lineup are Dead members Mickey Hart, Bob Weir and Phil Lesh.
