Hot Lava Monster

Columbia’s own Zeppelin-esque heavy rockers have been blistering stages for more than two decades But they will perform their last show Saturday before founding member and lead guitarist Mike Schaming relocates to Colorado.

The band is finishing up the final details on their seventh release and fifth studio album, due out in the next few months.

“Mike Schaming is the only guitarist for Hot Lava Monster,” said vocalist Patrick Baxley. “We are not calling this the end of the band, but from here on out, it will just be the occasional one-off show. He will come back for at least one more Columbia show once our next recording is available.

“While we don’t like the idea of a farewell show, we did want to give our fans a heads up so they could all come out to wish Mike well and see one hell of a show!”

The Capital City Playboys will open.

9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at State Street Pub, 136 State St., West Columbia. Free.
