Chamber Music on Main: Musicians play last concert of season

A quintet of musicians will play the last concert in this year’s CMA Chamber Music on Main concert series tonight.

The series, hosted by the Columbia Museum of Art, brings together critically acclaimed artists to play classical and contemporary music in the museum’s DuBose-Poston Reception Hall. This last concert of the season features cellist Edward Arron as a performer and the concert’s artistic director. He served for 10 years as artistic director of the Metropolitan Museum Artists in Concert chamber music concert series at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Tonight’s quintet includes pianist Rieko Aizawa, violinists Jesse Mills and Hye-Jin Kim, violinist and violist Ara Gregorian and violist Max Mendel in addition to Arron. They will perform pieces by Joaquin Turina, Feli Mendelssohn, Arvo Part and Ernest Chausson.

A cash bar happy hour precedes the concert and begins at 6 p.m. The concert begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $40 for the general public, $30 for members and $5 for students. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
