Weekday farmers markets offer tasty shopping
You don’t have to wait until the weekend to get a taste of food fresh from the field.
Two farmers markets are open each week on Wednesday afternoons.
The Blythewood Farmers Market is open 4-7 p.m. Wednesdays at 171 Langford Road, next to Town Hall. Fresh fruit and vegetables, baked goods and handmade products are for sale there. There’s also live music and activities for children.
In Forest Acres, The Farmers in the Forest market is open 3-7 p.m. Wednesdays at Richland Mall in the parking lot along Beltline Blvd. The Forest Acres market is under a tent, so it’s open rain or shine.
Fresh fruits, veggies, baked good and local crafts are available for sale.
A new farmers market at First Nazareth Baptist Church, at the corner of Gervais and Millwood, is open Wednesdays 9 a.m.-1 p.m. starting June 17; Millwood parking lot across from church. Senior vouchers, WIC, SNAP/EBT and debit cards accepted. Local farmers and gardeners encouraged to participate, (803) 254-6232
A scaled-down version of the Soda City market also is open Tuesday through Friday outside the Marriott on Main Street from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
