Have a gardening question? Head to farmers market

The weekly Tuesday farmers market at the Clemson Research and Education Center offers seasonal produce, locally produced crafts, baked goods for sale.

But you can also go there for advice.

The “Ask a Master Gardener” booth at the farmer market is just that: ask a seasoned gardener about your vegetable or flower garden.

It’s important right now to take care of your plants, which are stressing under blazing heat and intermittent rain. Here are some July gardening tips from “Month by Month Gardening in the Carolinas,” by Bob Polomski.

▪ You need to have an inch of water each week to keep your vegetable garden thriving.

▪ Use fertilizer after you have pinched or pruned perennials. Water afterward, and keep the beds moist.

Have any other questions? Head to the Ask a Master Gardener booth at the market.

The market is from 2-7 p.m. every Tuesday through Nov. 24, at Clemson University’s Sandhill Research and Education Center at 900 Clemson Road, across from the Village at Sandhill.
