Summer Sets Jazz Series: Leah Suarez and Friends

Mexican-American jazz singer Leah Suarez performs at Township Auditorium Tuesday as part of The Township Foundation’s Summer Set Jazz Series, which features musicians from South Carolina.

Suarez, a Sullivan’s Island native and College of Charleston grad, is a Latin jazz specialist as well a founding member of Jazz Artists of Charleston – a non-profit organization that preserves, promotes and advocates for jazz in Charleston.

With a backing band, Leah Suarez and Friends has a repertoire that includes standard and popular jazz favorites, from swing to samba to Brazilian bossa nova.

The group performs 6-8 p.m. in the Township Auditorium Lobby, 1703 Taylor St.
