Movies opening in Columbia this weekend

“Shaun the Sheep Movie” (PG): The latest animated adventure from the creators of Wallace & Gromit centers on a wayward sheep who wanders off the farm and into the big city.

“Fantastic Four” (PG-13): Director Josh Trank (“Chronicle”) steps into the big leagues with this second attempt to launch a film series based on the famous Marvel Comics quartet: Mr. Fantastic (Miles Teller), The Invisible Woman (Kate Mara), the Human Torch (Michael B. Jordan) and the Thing (Jamie Bell).

“Rikki and the Flash” (PG-13): Meryl Streep stars as a famous guitarist/singer who returns home to make amends with the family she abandoned in her quest for stardom. Written by Diablo Cody (“Juno”) and directed by Jonathan Demme (“The Silence of the Lambs”).

“The Gift” (R): Jason Bateman and Rebecca Hall are a married couple taunted by an old acquaintance (Joel Edgerton, who also wrote and directed) who reappears bearing troublesome presents and secrets from the past.

“The Wolfpack” (R): Locked away from society in an apartment on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, the Angulo brothers learn about the outside world through the films that they watch. Nicknamed, ‘The Wolfpack,’ the brothers spend their childhood re-enacting their favorite films using elaborate homemade props and costumes. Their world is shaken up when one of the brothers escapes and everything changes. Playing at the Nickelodeon Friday through Aug. 13.
