Love to make crafts? Check out Craft & Kvell
For crafters and DIY enthusiasts, the list of projects is always longer than the amount of free time.
The Katie & Irwin Kahn Jewish Community Center has a solution.
Craft & Kvell is an event designed to give crafters a chance to catch up on unfinished projects or start a new one. Each month, crafters bring their own supplies and projects, and the JCC provides the space and some snacks.
After a summer hiatus, the monthly gatherings return Sunday from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
“It started out as a social outlet for people to come and craft,” said Laurie Slack, Jewish programs coordinator for the JCC. “A lot of them are young mothers who take a morning to work on a project.”
Most of the regular attendees bring scrapbooking or knitting projects, but the door is open to people of any age, interest or type of craft.
“It’s a small but dedicated group, but we’re always looking for new people,” Slack said. “And you don’t have to be Jewish to come to the Jewish community center.”
Admission for Craft & Kvell is $3 for JCC members and $5 for non-members.
The Katie & Irwin Kahn Jewish Community Center is at 306 Flora Drive in Columbia.
