“No Escape” (R): After relocating to Southeast Asia with his family, an American businessman (Owen Wilson) is caught in the middle of a violent political coup. Pierce Brosnan and Lake Bell co-star.

“We Are Your Friends” (R): An up-and-coming DJ (Zac Efron) falls for the girlfriend (Emily Ratajkowski) of his record-spinning mentor (Wes Bentley).

Best of Enemies (R): A documentary on the series of televised debates in 1968 between the liberal Gore Vidal and the conservative William F. Buckley Jr. Opening Friday at the Nickelodeon.

“American Ultra” (R): A stoner (Jesse Eisenberg) takes a break from his bong when he discovers he’s actually a lethal sleeper agent who’s been called into action. Kristen Stewart plays his understandably baffled girlfriend.

“Sinister 2” (R): A single mother (Shannyn Sossamon) and her twin sons are targeted by an evil spirit in this sequel to the creepy 2012 hit.

“Hitman: Agent 47” (R): “Homeland’s” Rupert Friend takes over for Timothy Olyphant in this second installment in the adventures of a genetically-engineered super-assassin. Yes, it’s the tail-end of the summer movie season.
