Sunday night at if ART Gallery promises energy, excitement and music, as drummer Frank Rosaly offers a solo concert.
“Frank Rosaly is a drummer, improvisor and composer with a stellar reputation, especially in improv jazz but also in other avant garde music,” said gallery owner Wim Roefs. “He is one of the mainstays of the Chicago improv music scene but performs with bands and ensembles in various forms of music.”
Rosaly is touring to promote a new solo album, Malo, and has appeared in Ann Arbor, Mich.; Baltimore, Md.; Asheville, N.C. and Buffalo, N.Y. After his stop in Columbia, his tour will take him to cities in Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, and several music festivals across the country.
This is not Rosaly’s first appearance in Columbia. He previously has played Conundrum Music Hall, 701 Center for Contemporary Art and other venues.
“Rosaly’s performances are highly energetic as he displays his virtuoso qualities as a drummer with high energy,” Roefs said. “His solo performances are both a feast for the ears and eyes.”
Sunday’s concert begins at 8:30 p.m. and admission is $5. if ART Gallery is located at 1223 Lincoln St. in The Vista.
