Loyal attendees of First Thursday on Main festivities will have extra cause for celebration this week.

As First Thursday on Main wraps up the inaugural year of its Cultural Passport program, those with passports full of stamps will be given t-shirts and prizes. Up and down Main Street, there will be food trucks, free drinks, entertainment and the return of the event’s popular photo booth.

First Thursday on Main is a monthly celebration of merchants, restaurants and art galleries along Main Street, from the state capital to City Hall. Businesses stay open until 10 p.m. and offer sales and specials to attendees.

September’s festivities include:

A trunk show at Nest (1450 Main St.). In its first-ever trunk show, Nest will feature handbags from Nana by Sally and fused glass creations by Toni Chirico of 8 Petals. The store will offer Double Treat Donuts and free Bourbon Lemonade cocktails.

A book signing at Something Special Florist (1546 Main St.). Heidi Vukov, author of the cookbook “Bonjour Ya’ll” and owner of Croissants Bistro and Bakery in Myrtle Beach, will sign copies of her book and answer questions.

September’s First Thursday on Main event also includes a private artists’ reception at City Hall for patients from Children’s Center at Palmetto Health and their families. The patients have created works of art for an exhibit called “A to Z: a Picture of My Journey.”

Patients in the Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital each chose a word that represents an aspect of their treatment and created a work of art based on that word.

While Thursday’s event is for the patient artists and their families, the exhibit will be open for public viewing during City Hall business hours after Thursday. The exhibit is a recognition of Childhood Cancer and Sickle Cell Awareness Month.
