Advance discount tickets for SC State Fair go on sale Wednesday

Counting down to the S.C. State Fair?

You’ll be glad to know advance discount gate admission tickets and ride vouchers go on sale Wednesday at the fair website, scstatefair.org, and at Walgreens stores.

Advance tickets are $7, a savings of $3 from the $10 price per ticket once the fair opens. Admission during the fair run is $7 for seniors 55 and older; and free for retired, active military and dependents (bring ID), along with children ages 5 and under (with paying adult).

This year’s fair runs Oct. 14-25.

Advance discount ride vouchers, with 28 ride coupons, also go on sale Wednesday for $23; the price is $28 during the fair.

The Pay One Price (POP) Ride Day feature is back, allowing holders to exchange ride vouchers for a POP wristband at any ticket kiosk for unlimited rides Monday through Friday during the fair. On Saturday and Sunday, the ride voucher can be exchanged for 28 ride coupons.

The deadline to buy discount admission and ride tickets: Oct. 13.

Grandstand concert ticket sales are going on now.

Among performers scheduled to play: Country star Thomas Rhett (Oct. 14), pop singer Shawn Mendes (Oct. 16) and multiple Grammy winner Gladys Knight (Oct. 18).

Other Grandstand headliners include Australian Christian pop rock band Newsboys, Christian music band Israel and New Breed (free), country singer-songwriter Cole Swindell and Army ensemble The Volunteers (free).
