Where to go late-night after Gamecocks' home football games
Whether you’re looking for a place to celebrate a Gamecock victory or needing to drown your sorrows after a loss, Columbia has options.
Check out these spots for after-hours hanging out, late-night eating and post-game partying.
Close to the stadium
Sometimes the best thing to do is just stay put. If you still have beer to drink and food to eat, head back to your tailgate to hang out and wait for the traffic to die down. Or you can amble over to River Rat Brewery behind the southeast side of the Williams-Brice Stadium at 1231 Shop Road. (It’s best for grabbing a beer after earlier games, as it closes at 10 p.m.)
Five Points
This is your go-to place to throw down with USC undergrads, as Five Points gets swarmed by students after football home games. Breakers Bar & Grill and Jake’s Bar & Grill both have great patios, and Bar None has a kitchen that stays open late. Cookout and Insomnia Cookies are also good options for midnight munchies.
The Vista
For a slightly more adult scene, head to the Vista for food and drinks at the Flying Saucer or Liberty Tap Room. There’s also Carolina Ale House, which has plenty of televised sports and a rooftop bar.
Main Street
If you’re just not ready to go home, The Whig stays open until 1 a.m. on Saturdays. For out-of-towners, Main Street, a sports bar inside the Sheraton, is good for drinks right at your hotel.
Other
Thirsty Fellow sits on prime post-game real estate, located right by a bus pick-up and drop-off spot. They get a good crowd after games and will have other games still being played on their TVs.
