Sunday benefit concerts to help flood victims

Big Dam Jam Benefit at City Roots

A benefit concert is in the works for Sunday, organized by Columbia area residents, City Roots, Jay Matheson of the Jam Room and others.

The Big Dam Jam Benefit is set for 1:30-6:30 p.m. and will feature The Mustache Brothers, Danielle Howle, Stefanie Santana, Tom Hall and the Lowboys, Tomasto Season and others. Food, beer and wine also will be on tap.

No gate, but donations will be accepted, with all proceeds going to Central Carolina Community Foundation for flood victims.

First Baptist Columbia Church Sunday benefit concern to feature Christian music

For those with a different taste in music, First Baptist Columbia is hosting a disaster relief concert on Sunday.

Modern hymn and song writers, Keith and Kristin Getty, will headline the downtown event at the 3,400-seat church sanctuary at 1306 Hampton Street.

Doors will open at 5 p.m. for the 6 p.m. concert.

While admission is free, “a love offering will be received with 100% of the gifts given going directly to meet the needs of those suffering from devastating loss. ” the church said in a news release.

The Gettys are expected to perform many of their most popular songs such as “In Christ Alone” and “The Power of the Cross.”
