Five Points Association cancels annual Chili Cook-Off

The Five Points Association board of directors announced the cancellation of this year’s Chili Cook-Off in Five Points, originally set for Nov. 7.

The event was slated to take place in Martin Luther King Memorial Park, which suffered serious damage as a result of recent flooding and has been closed by the city of Columbia Parks and Recreation Department until further notice, according to a news release.

While Five Points merchants suffered relatively minimal damage in the recent floods, the association said efforts should be focused on recovery in the Midlands.
