An opportunity to network with area professionals Wednesday also will feature beer, tacky holiday sweaters and philanthropy – all bundled up into one holiday-themed event.

My Carolina Alumni Association is hosting its annual Young Alumni Tacky Sweater Party from 6-8 p.m. at Craft and Draft, 2706 Devine St.

The party is aimed toward young University of South Carolina alumni, but the event is open to everyone.

Sarah Sipes, the association’s director of regional alumni engagement, said attendees are encouraged to wear holiday-themed sweaters.

“The more vintage the better,” she said.

Sipes said some of the memorable sweaters from last year include ones featuring puppies, kittens, jingle bells and one with a light-up Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.

The event will feature food from Yellow Dog BBQ and a variety of beer from Craft and Draft, which is owned by two 2007 USC alumni.

Attendees who bring in canned goods to support the Gamecock Pantry will receive $1 off draft craft beers.

“Come drink craft beer, donate to the community and have fun with other young professionals,” Sipes said.
