Take a break, take in a holiday-themed movie at The Nick
In the words of Ellen Griswold, “I don’t know what to say, except it’s Christmas and we’re all in misery.”
If you’ve had your fair share of obnoxious in-laws, disappointing gifts and failed light displays, The Nickelodeon has a way to make you feel better about your holiday.
To remind you that no gift is as bad as the Jelly of the Month Club.
That, at least, your in-laws didn’t unload their RV into the storm drain in front of your house.
That your Christmas tree and holiday lights were right-sized and tasteful (no matter what the neighbors say).
The Nick will show “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” at 6:30 p.m. Christmas Eve. The showing is part of the theater’s holiday film series that included “Batman Returns” and “It’s A Wonderful Life” earlier in the week and concludes with “Fiddler on the Roof” at 2:30 p.m. Christmas Day.
Hopefully, it will be just enough to inspire the holiday-weary to make one more enthusiastic attempt on Christmas Day, to rally the troops and tell them, “We’re gonna press on, and we’re gonna have the hap-hap-happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny … Kaye.”
