Columbia food bank Harvest Hope’s 35th annual fundraising gala is planned March 11, 2016, at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. The celebration, as Harvest Hope is describing the evening-long event, will feature a reception, silent auction, and dinner. The evening is be topped off with the eclectic stylings of rockers Blues Traveler.
Formed 30 years ago in New Jersey, Blues Traveler is known for performing a large range of music styles including blues rock, psychedelic rock, folk rock, soul, and Southern rock.
Helping to feed hungry Midlanders since 1981, Harvest Hope Food Bank is a highly rated by Charity Navigator. Most of its money comes from contributions, gifts and grants. Very little is spent on fundraising or administration. According to Charity Navigator, 98.1% of the money raised in 2014 (the latest figures available) was spent on the programs and services Harvest Hope offers. In addition, Harvest Hope gets the highest rating, 4 stars, for its 100% transparency and accountability.
